treasure from the summer...

i spent the day cleaning my room before it becomes utterly messy and lose the effort to clean it.

things i found while cleaning:
notes from most of my FSHS classes
camera, cracked screen and all
root beer flavored mike and ike's
a nickel
a fortune that reads, "Now is a good time to explore."
an Urbana '06 wristband
my computer's AppleCare Protection Plan
six paper clips (2 large, 3 small, one bent)

so for the past couple days, I've been dialoging via youtube with an atheist about what he believes and why. he identifies himself as a 'militant atheist'. it's been interesting hears his thoughts about christians, creationism, evolution, etc. he knows i'm a christian and the dialogue is just starting off.

God's been putting truth and those who are atheists, humanists, etc. on my heart and mind. the questions that are raised by skeptical are valid. i honestly think that previous generations did not see the need to help christians understand their faith, simply because it wasn't really an issue, unlike today.

i believe, in order to effectively reach skeptics and others, we must be knowledgeable and able to explain why we believe. belief isn't just a heart thing, it's a head thing too.

God's been continuing to tell me, and my experience backs this up, that the most important and dangerous question to ask is, "Why?" important because no one, at least willing, wants to be ignorant. dangerous because it has the potential to change your thinking or reinforce it.

  1. Change scares us all... we get so comfortable with where we are at that when he probes we sometimes get a wee bit scared. Poopy pants.
