Dear CNN:

I understand that the Somali pirate story is a welcomed break from the economy. I thought the move on Cpt. Phillips' part to offer himself as a hostage was downright chivalrous.

I also understand that it's been a while since we've seen a story on pirates, especially ones that fire at U.S. warships. It's historic.

I sympathize with the Phillips' family. I hope occurrences like this are solved through the means of various deterrents so that families, not just American ones, can feel safe seeing off our spouses and children to work.

I don't think having four plus days of coverage will help the situation. Being informed is one thing. Being overwhelmed by the same information is another.

Give us an update on Obama's dog, the church hunting, etc. I mean, come on, this is REAL news. This will stimulate thinking on real issues.

Quantity over quality. Wall Street's doing it. The Congress is doing it. Jump on board.
