'to do' list or 'not to do' list

for a while, it has seemed like I've been sitting on a mountain of "things to do". some of them are less important than others...

read for class
plan for Sunday morning
fix the bathtub drain
make a budget
visit family
make a schedule
visit friends in Manhattan
post a blog
go for a run
visit friends in KC
do laundry
buy highlighters
prioritize life
don't have a to do list

overwhelmed is the word.

at the moment, i'm considering chalking up a schedule.

the one i am contemplating is one that keeps me up to date on....well, everything. life in general. this come out of my wanting to be in manhattan, yet being logically compelled (by myself, of course) to remain in KC and finish what i've committed to.

at first this seemed like a great idea. then, and still now, i am beginning to realize and question whether a schedule should be necessary for living. prioritizing is one thing. a schedule is another ballgame.

most of this re-evaluation comes from my program of study, which offers no middle-ground in commitment or enjoyment. you're committed to the program, or you're not. you either love the program or you hate it. here's how i stand. i am committed to the program, therefore, i love the program and engage in the classes, which in turn, make me hate the program. now this can be confusing. what i am saying is that the MFT program is challenging me at the very deepest level of my being. patterns of behavior, thoughts, feelings, the whole nine yards. (i almost wrote 'years' instead of 'yards'. somehow, it feels like i'll stabilize only after nine years. ha.)

some future highlights or notable happenings in the recent past:

i got my student aid in the mail
i just applied to be a student member of the AAMFT.
i got my first paycheck today. hello, school supplies, manhattan.
subpoint: i'm considering buying a Sony Handycam or a Canon FS200. The camera's immediate use would be for clinicals which start in april.

**

i guess, in short, i'm trying to simplify my life so that 1) i am faithfully serving God by a) not over-committing myself and b) having time to seek what God wants of me, 2) allowing some freedom to invest in others.

that's my goal.

how do you all schedule your time?

i just need to share this...
